Exciting news folks! With help from the neighbors, we can put Edgewater Glen’s favorite DIY blogger on the cast of the Hallmark Channel’s “Home and Family” for a week. By watching Mark’s video here you can help send Mark to Hollywood to create his DIY projects on the show.

If you haven’t met Mark yet or seen his projects featured here on EGD, he runs a small design business in the neighborhood that specializes in installations for holidays, special events and nightlife.

You can check out his professional work on his Facebook page or his blog Slumbering Alligator Concepts where you’ll find a handful of craft projects, home tips and design inspiration for holidays, parties and more.

From the Neighbors: Andersonville Arts Weekend at Murray & White

Very cool. Our Edgewater Glen neighbors JT & Travis (owners of Murray & White) wanted to invite the neighborhood out to their store for Andersonville Arts & Design Weekend.

For the second year they will be partnering with Misericordia and their Creative Arts Program (October 9 – 11th). Artwork created by the residents of Misericordia will be on display at their store and available for sale. All proceeds from the artwork sales as well as Misericordia Creative Arts merchandise go directly to the great work Misericordia does for their residents and the community. Last year they were able to raise over $1,600 for the program and are hoping to grow that to $3,000 this year.

In addition to the many works of art and merchandise available for sale, we will have a Signature Artwork on display all weekend. Silent bids will be accepted throughout the weekend and the Signature piece will be sold Sunday October 11th at 6:00PM to the highest bidder!

The Creative Arts Program at Misericordia Home is comprised of six art programs, each focusing on a different skill, medium or challenge. Each program is led by an art instructor, support staff, and volunteers who work side by side with our resident artists in a collaborative effort to create these beautiful pieces of art. These programs facilitate empowerment through art by giving residents a voice through visual expression and by sharing their achievements with families, friends, and the community.

Meet the Neighbors: Chicago Is! A Hometown Musical Revue

Hi Folks – Our neighbor Jason has another show he wanted to let the neighbors know about. It looks like a great musical revue celebrating Chicago if you are interested in checking out some of the great artistic work coming out of Edgewater Glen lately.

Three Cat Productions is thrilled to showcase Chicago based composers with Chicago Is! A Hometown Musical Revue.   More than just Michigan avenue, Garrett’s Popcorn, and the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Is! tells the story of Chicago through the eyes of seven Chicagoans.   Each character explores their memories of the city they love. Pairing these stories with music from over a dozen Chicago composers,   Chicago Is! celebrates what makes our city great.

“There is nothing more exciting than celebrating Chicago with the music of these fantastic composers,” stated Jason Paul Smith, Artistic Director of Three Cat Productions.

From musical theatre to jazz to comedy, the diverse mix of composers represents an array of musical genres. Chicago composers include Big X and Caucasians, Mark Burrows, Steve Clark, Cheryl Coons, Rob Dorn, Elizabeth Doyle, Michael Duff, Gary Gimmestad, Cory Goodrich, Matt Griffo, Owen Kalt, Joanna P. Lind, Megon McDonough, Tina Montgomery, Steve and Karen Multer, William David Sherman, and Susan Werner.

Chicago Is! A Hometown Musical Revue is running at the Chicago Park District’s Berger Park Coach House Theater at 6205 N. Sheridan Road (Edgewater by Granville el stop on Red Line). Chicago Is! stars Debbie Baños, Katherine Bellantone, Jerico Bleu, Charlie Mann, Aaron Mitchell Reese, Lauren Twombly, and Brian Zealand.

The show is conceived and directed by Jason Paul Smith, Three Cat Productions, Artistic Director. Musical direction and various arrangements by Roy Freeman Resident Stage Manager is Jess Koster. Resident Lighting and Set Designer is Pat Henderson.

Previews are April 30 & May 1, 2015. The regular run is May 2 – May 30, 2015. Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 7:30pm and Saturday matinees at 4:00pm at the Berger Park Coach House Theater at 6205 N. Sheridan in the Edgewater neighborhood of Chicago.   Doors open 30 minutes prior to curtain.

Tickets are $25 each for all performances. Senior tickets available for $15. Tickets can be purchased on our website at threecatproductions.com or via phone at 312.970.9840.

Street parking (paybox until 9pm) is available on Granville, side streets, and Broadway (Handicapped and a limited parking is available. Please call the box office for special parking arrangements).
